School Uniform

We urge all parents to support the wearing of St Edward’s School uniform. The wearing of uniform brings advantages for our pupils and for you, the parents.

Summer uniform may be worn after the Easter holiday and up to Autumn half term.

Girls

Winter

  • Plain white blouse (not fitted)
  • Black/Silver school tie
  • Grey skirt or pinafore dress
  • Grey pleated culottes or
  • Black/grey tailored school trousers
  • Royal blue cardigan or sweatshirt
  • White or grey socks or grey/black tights

Summer

  • As per winter uniform OR
  • White and blue striped or checked dress or
  • Grey skirt or pinafore dress or
  • Black/grey tailored school trousers or shorts
  • White polo shirt and no tie
  • Royal blue cardigan or sweatshirt
  • White socks

Boys

Winter

  • White shirt

  • Grey or black socks

Summer

Sweatshirts, cardigans and polo shirts may be embellished with the school crest if you wish, but this is not a necessary part of the uniform.

Both boys and girls should wear sensible black footwear; not trainers, fashion shoes with heels or long or high boots. Sports logos on shoes are not allowed, or shoes that are made out of canvas or fabric material. Summer sandals should be black, brown or navy blue and fit securely with no open toes.

We encourage the wearing of sun caps to protect the head and neck during summer months. Blue crested ones are available, although other sensible styles are acceptable.

PE

Pupils will be told which days they will have PE and they will come to school dressed in their PE kit as below.

All Pupils

  • White polo shirt
  • Trainers
  • Royal blue shorts or navy blue joggers.
  • Navy blue hoodie

Jewellery

  • No jewellery is to be worn other than a watch and a small cross or medal on a chain if wished
  • Plain stud earrings ONLY are allowed for pierced ears and these MUST be removed for ALL PE classes and for EVERY swimming lesson, otherwise your child will not be able to participate in that lesson.
  • This will also apply to those who participate in our after school sports clubs.
  • Any items worn are the child’s responsibility; the school is unable to accept responsibility for lost or damaged items.

Hair

  • Long hair must be tied back for health and safety reasons.
  • Extreme hairstyles are NOT permitted.

Hair Accessories

  • Only small hair accessories to be worn. These should be blue in colour. No oversized bow or clips to be worn in school.

Nail Varnish

  • Children are not allowed to wear nail varnish.

Please label all of your children’s clothing, footwear and belongings.

Other items of clothing

Other items of clothing with the school crest such as caps, fleece jackets and rainproof jackets are available from local suppliers. Whilst very practical and attractive, these are not a necessary part of the uniform.

Used Items

We have a number of good quality used items which have been donated to school after being outgrown. Parents may wish to utilise these in exchange for a small donation.
